Cherussery Zainuddeen Musliyar Cherussery Zainudheen Musliyar ( Arabic : جرشاري زين الدين مسليار , Malayalam : സൈനുല് ഉലമാ ചെറുശ്ശേരി ഉസ്താദ് ) was an Indian, Sunni Muslim religious scholar from the state of Kerala . [1] He served as General Secretary for Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama, the religious organization of Sunni Muslim scholars and clerics, which has the largest number of followers in Kerala, [2] and the former principal of Darul Huda Islamic University . [3] Called the Shining Scholar ("Zain-ul Ulama") by followers, he is often regarded as the successor of E.K. Aboobacker Musliar , the former stalwart of Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama . E. K. Aboobacker Musliyar E. K. Aboobacker Musliyar, known by followers as Shams-ul-Ulama, "the Sun of the Scholars", was a Shafi'i scholar and community leader from Kerala, south India.[1] He served as the General Secretary of the All-Kerala Jam'iyyat al-'Ulama', the principal Sunni-Shafi'i scholarly body in Kerala, from 1957 to 1996.[2] Ezhuthachan Kandi Aboobacker was born in 1914, to E. K. Koya Kutty and Adiyottil Fathima, at Parambilkadavu, near the city of Kozhikode.[2] After the initial education from a number of Kerala-based scholars, he joined the al-Bakiyat-us-Salihat College at Vellore for higher studies.[2] He later served as the principal of Jamia Nuriya Arabic College, Pattikkad.[2] E. K. Aboobacker Musliyar died on 19 August, 1996.
